t-top to hardtop

Can it be done? I have done searches and could not find anything. I hope that isn't trying to tell me something. I just want to get rid of the t-tops and go with a hard top. Ideas?

I wanted to do the opposite of you, go from hardtop to t-top and to do this is VERY expensive, roughly $2,000 in a body shop if they will do it. the biggest stickler for a body shop is liability in case of a rollover. just better off finding a hardtop.

I have a hardtop. The problem is that all the welded in parts are in the t-top car.(Cage, Weightjacks, Subframe connectors, Ect)

I would think it would be easier to go t-top to hardtop than vice versa. Frankly, I have a t-tops car and I would prefer the hardtop as well. hrmm something to think about.

You want a hardtop? Everyone I ever talk to wants t-tops. They are awesome in summer.

Why do you want a hardtop? Doesn't a cage give you the needed strength?

This car is for Open Road Racing Events. The thought of rolling with all the open space and glass flying around makes me cringe.

I know this is not a third gen F body but this is what it looks like after an off road event at 180+ MPH

I have seen a video of that crash. I believe he almost made it to the end of the course. But he came out okay.

The crash happened 7 miles into the 90 mile run. He did walk away with minor bumps and bruises. The video showes he shifted way to soon when trying to slow the car down after a blowout.

shouldnt be hard and it would be easier if you left the cage in the car some how, that would actually save money for you because they have to weld in supports when chopping the top because it will bend in as soon as that top is off.

ive considerd it many times...but just said id rather buy another f body for that

I should call them and see if My car could be a donor and get the hard top free, Or at least cheaper. Good looking out.

T-tops are great, even when (not if) they leak.

But seriously, I've seen some roof graphs, be it t-top to hardtop or vice versa. Get a top section, cut the 4 pillars, and weld it up. It's not too hard if you think you're up to do it in the first place.

I checked it out but not sure about connecting at the pillars. The thought of that(Part or end of the pillar) in my face in a crash seems worse than the glass part. So for now I stick with the T-top drip in my left leg. And that is with new weather strips. I hate that seam there. I have thought about welding a section of the hard top in place of the T-top section. My body guy thinks I'm nuts. Oh well he is not far from wrong. lol
