Need Info On Windsheild Molding(years)
Next week im have some paint work done on my car. One thing im doing is having my windsheild removed to replace the molding and have some painted areas repainted. My question is about the molding. My car is a 86 iroc and I herd the newer camaros got better(bigger) molding and i really want to have the bigger molding if its true.
My Question:
Could someone please tell me what years got the molding so I can tell my painter before it gets painted. Also if someone has actually seen the difference in the two could you tell me if there is a big difference.
Thx

I think the one GM sells right now is the later style, the wider one. It is about $30 at the dealer. You can also get it from the restoration supply companies (Classic Ind, Ecklers, Year One).

As far as I know all third gen F's used the same windshield molding GM part number 10103279. Still available from GM parts direct.com for about $17.00

Just order one for a '92 and you should be fine. Thirdgens don't get any later than that.

Yeah, my '83 has the (skinny) moulding that barely fills the gap between the edge of the windshield and the body. Also, I have an '89 parts car with the wider one so there definitely were two different types used....
