Go to a vinyl sign shop where they make the graphics you see on busses and delivery vans all over the world... Have them print your images onto automotive grade clear vinyl, then cut out the numerics with the plotter cutter.

They can then cover the gauge faces with masking tape to apply to a 1/32" or 1/64" thick Lexan sheet... I did a write up on this type of stuff a while back... let me go search it out for you...

Check out my write up in this post. When you do live image shots, you will have to have two overlay layers printed, one all black "primer" layer with the numerics left clear, then your picture image printed with the numerics left clear. Apply the picture image to the primer layer, then apply both to the Lexan.

If you have them make the clear numerics slightly larger on the black "primer" layer it makes it a bit easier to line it up without any black showing through to the front. Then you can apply translucent (that means it lets some light through) colors to the numerics from the back side of the lexan to change glow colors of different portions of the gauge (red line, temp max/min, etc.).

Are enough of you interested in a set if I can figure this out or am I wasting my time....It only takes a little bit to create but printing could prove to be more difficult....So let me know if you would be interested in a set of Custom Made gauges with your Pic Choice From family to cars, to ****, to whatever you can think of...But you need to understand that the gauge will decide some parts of a picture could get lost in needle holes and whatnot so keep that in mind....Let me know....

ever hear of stencil grafitti? vynal print shop is a good idea, and probally more inexpensive that a silkscreen printer. but if it too is price for the amount of lettering on such small surface, try a stencil with good quality spraypaint. youd be amazed the images you can get from just a stencil.

print them on tranparentcies.

Remember back in school when the teacher had a projector and she wrote on a clear plastic thing and it showed on the wall.

Well you can print on them with lazer and inkjet printers.

Very easy. And a pack cost like $4.

Good Luck

edit: saw it was already posted and i revised the design. The stock guages lie on a clear pastic panel and the light only comes through on the areas design to have light come through. SO, paint the back of the transparency white, like a brush on or spray on paint, and then print on the other side. That would work...

Re: I need your help (custom Gauges)

Dude, i know this thread is like 6 years old, but wow!! Those are awesome gauge templates. I have a 1982 camaro berlinetta with split gauges (kph on one side and mph on the other, with the dual spedo needle.) If you have any Idea where I can find a template for those gauges I would be extremely happy. Once again, Incredable job .
