Okay the hood is on as well as my latching hardware. The hood shuts, and the fender gaps are fine, the hood looks to be good dimensionally, it's straight. My only issue right now is that the hood sits about 1.5cm too far forward, even with the hood slid back as far as it will go on the brackets.

My only thought is to grind the mounting bracket slot so the hood will slide back just a little further. Anyone else have to do this?

The fender gaps are not perfect nor are they even. This was just a test fit. I'm having the whole car repainted in 2 days I just wanted to make sure everything was in order. I was hit on the driver side of the bumper and it broke my headlight bar etc, so I don't expect the fender gaps to be perfect since my bumper sags on one side. The main thing is the fact that it sits forward.

Are both brackets all the way back? Hood and on the fender?

I don't quite follow. Is there more adjustment for the hood than just the slot on the bracket the hood bolts to?

I had this same problem when i test fit my BB hood. I just used a rubber mallet it tap the hood hinges back closer to the windshield. I know you said it was all the way back, but try to loosen the bolts up, use the RUBBER mallet and tap them back. Also are your hood shocks on? I remember this made a little diff when they pulled it down harder and closer to the body.

Wait, are you talking about the when you bolt the hood to the hinge how you can slide the hood forward/back before completely tightneing the hood bolts or are you saying I can also move the entire hinge itself?

I know on the Firebirds, that when you lossen up the bolts to the fenders, you can slide the hood brackets back a bit

the hinges bolt to the car, and the hood bolts to the hinges --- multiple points of adjustment, understand?? :P

That sounds way better then grinding the slots on the hinge brackets. Thanks guys.

I have a bb hood also. The fit seems pretty tight and slightly off, but i dont have good hood struts. They can't even hold up the hinges themselves.

So... are you going to convert that hood to ram air? You know, cut out the piece in the front that looks like it doesnt belong there. Suggestions welcome!

I'm probably going to leave the scoop alone.

The hoods looks almost perfect dimensionally. The fender gap looks to be about 1/4" on each side of the hood, and it looks like once I adjust the hinge brackets that the hood will line up perfectly to the bumper and the rear of the fender. It sits flush with both fenders the entire length of the hood as well. Once the new bumper is on and the fenders/hinges have been regapped, I think it will line up very well.

As far as the struts, I am not going to use them, I'm going to fabricate a prop rod of some sort. I'm not a fan of gas struts, I don't like the idea of having to use force to close the hood. Even if I get those struts for fiberglass hoods, I still don't want to deal with it.

Right now the biggest problem I'm having is the stupid hood release lever. It takes 2 ppl to open my hood because someone has to slightly jiggle the hood as the lever is being pulled or the hood won't release, it did this with the stock hood as well. The line must have stretched over the years, anyone know how to readjust the hood release line?

thats exactly what i had a problem with my hood with the latch, taking 2 people. Spray some WD40 into where the hood comes together with the latch and see if that makes a diff.
