Chuck Pelton Steering Wheel

I got my recovered steering wheel from Chuck Pelton the other day and it looks great. I won't install it until the engine swap is complete but I thought I'd share. For those whose don't know, Chuck Pelton is located in Michigan and sell recovered IROC wheels for $150 on ebay. I had bought an extra wheel with every intent of recovering it myself but quickly found it wasn't within my abilities! I contacted Chuck, sent him my extra as a core and he sent back and perfect recovered wheel the next day. I would definately recommend one of these if you like the stock look and would like a "new" wheel.

I think so too. I was a little nervous about shelling out the money for a stock wheel but I'm happy with it.

Very nice, I am going to get one of those from Chuck as well. How hard is it to remove your steering wheel? We have the same car it seems (87 iroc, no airbag).

I think we just pop the horn cap off and remove the bolt. I will be using a steering wheel puller to assist too. I removed other steering wheels but never a third gen wheel. It shouldn't be too hard though

im in a predicament. When i was trying to remove my wheel, i took the nut off, threaded down the wheel puller, and twisted, one of the bolts that goes into the steering column broke off abotu halfway up the wheel puller, end result, i've got about 2.5" of threads sticking out of one of the holes i'll need to get out before i can ever pull my wheel off. I'd try to get a set of vice grips on it, but the way it's in there, there's not nearly enough room to get on it, plus i'd have to flatten a side down, which is also just about impossible to do. My thought is, cut the wheel's housing so i can get a puller on it, and go from there.

92 rs

Panther,
Could you tell me how I can contact Chuck Pelton, (I'm in central Florida) I have a 92 RS steering wheel that needs some work and also the air-bag as well. I would like to know if he can cover them and if it is cost effective to go with the rework covers.

Get 2 nuts from the hardware store that will fit what's left of the bolt. thread both nuts onto the broken off bolt. Tighten the bottom bolt tight to the top bolt. Then use a wrench and turn only the bottom nut against the top nut. That should allow you back the broken bolt out.

Yeah, his number is 248-681-4336. I have never personally talked to him but he gave me his phone number in an email. I'm not sure what he would charge to do the air bag wheels but it's worth a shot.
