Armrest repair question
I have an '88 Camaro and the armrest is pulling away on the top and bottom as the glue weakens. I found the tech article on this board that suggests removing and regluing the armrest and I want to give that a try. I have two questions.
1. What size torx driver do I need to remove the screws (since I will have to buy one - I don't have any)?
2. From what I've read, the third screw is behind a little plastic plate toward the top of the door armrest. Does this plate just pry off with a screwdriver?
Thanks for any advice/opinions you can give me!

if the screws are loose just tighten em.not sure what size torx but find a flat head that fits in there and it will work too.The long skinny klein fathead works good.If you dont have one they sell it at home depot.
if the vinyl is coming loose try re gluing it,how much worse could you make it.And worse case scenerio is buy new arm rest at a junkyard or ebay.
And the little clip dillio ,pry iot with a screw driver carefully

T25 I believe. Buy a torx bit set for a nutdriver, I got one from T-8 - T30 I think for $5, I can take off the secondary hanger, and remove my arm rests, one of my best purchases.
To remove the armrest it should just be the two under the armrest itself, then the one at the front, which should be visible...?

assuming it's the same as a 91 it should only be 3 torx bits. relatively common size although i can't recall it. armrests are cheap, 10-20 cheap if you find them used. just replace them if they are in that bad of shape.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions! I plan on trying to repair them using advice from a tech thread on this board. If the repair is unsuccessful, I'll look for replacements on ebay or a local junkyard. Thanks again!

haha, what do you live in a cave? a nut driver is a screwdriver with interchangeable bits. Usually the "hole" for the interchangeable bits is 5/32" or something, so you can DRIVE NUTS with it as well....

I fixed both armrests over the weekend and they look great! It was a T-25 Torx to remove the screws. The only point I'd make to anyone else doing this is that the third screw to remove the armrest is at the top of the armrest, hidden behind a small plastic piece about the size of a quarter. You take a flat blade screwdriver and gently pry it out and the screw is visible. The four "screws" at the very top end of the armrest are not real; they're only for show. Thanks again to all who helped me out on this!
