need to replace all the weatherstripping

does anybody know a good place to get a weatherstripping kit? I need it all doors, t-tops, and hatch. Everything is falling apart. I think jcwhitney has a kit, but I was just wondering if anybody knows from experience.

thanks

I just replaced all of my weatherstripping in my car. I was told to get nothing but GM stuff, but I ran short on money when it came to the hatch and door seals.

I installed GM T-top seals and GM window sweeps and I used Soffseal hatch and door seals. I'm very pleased with all of the quality and fitment of these. I ordered my Soffseal products from Summit and the GM stuff from my local dealer.

I believe the GM stuff was around $200 for the T-Top seals and $60 for the window sweeps. The Soffseal weatherstripping was somewhere around $75 for the door seals and $25 for the hatch seal.

How was the fit on your door seals? My bird is in paint right now and I need to replace all the seals. I have done a lot of searching/reading on this topic here, and it seems that most people have issues with the aftermarket seals being too long, and the large rubber blocks on the end not being reinforced? You run into any of those issues?

I want to go all GM replacements, but with the door seals being more than double the cost of aftermarket, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I was very impressed with the fitment of the door seals. From what I understand, there was an old version with blocked, unmolded ends; and then there's the newest run with the molded ends.

When I bought my door seals I contemplated for awhile about whether to get the GM stuff or give Soffseal a try. Give Soffseal a try.

Alot of the posts I read said something about the end blocks only being molded around a steel washer opposed to the large piece imbedded in the GMs. Is what you have more than just a washer?

Got any pics by chance?

You got your door seals at Summit right? Did they have to order them, I'm assuming they do not stock them? I plan on running out to the Canfield meet this weekend and might make a stop there on the way back.

The ends are very similar if not identical to the GM ends.

I got my set from Summit and they did have them in stock.

What day are you going out to Canfield? I was planning on getting up there this weekend but I'd also like to hit up Slam Jam in Medina.

Looks like it will be Sunday as Saturday is shaping up to be a little to busy. Given that it will take me over 2 hours to get there, it turns into a full day event for me.

I checked out soffseals web site today and found that they have 'WINDOW WEATHERSTRIP, INNERS ONLY' listed for our cars. Summit also has them listed on their site. I am thinking that these are the inner window sweeps that have been discontinued by GM. Anybody know for sure one way or the other?

I plan on seeing if they are in stock at Summit this weekend when I stop in so that I can take a look and see what they are. I'll post back what I find out.

Did you make it to the Canfield swap meet? When we were leaving I saw a blue Trans Am parked near us and thought that might be you. The car had Mahoning county plates though, so probably not.

Made it to the Canfield meet on Sunday, but that blue TA definately was not mine. I dropped mine off to the body shop last week with nothing left on it but the glass and suspension, which will be off soon as well before it goes on the rotisserie to be stripped.

I also stopped at Summit and picked up the door and hatch seals. Did not plan on the hatch seal, but for barely over $20, could not pass it up. The PN for what I think might be the inner window sweeps was not stocked, special order, so I did not get to see it to confirm exactly what it is. The door seals look good, and feel very soft, not hard like some claims that I have heard. I won't get to install these for quite some time, but I plan on doing a side by side comparison to a door I have with the seal still on.

Apologies to mgilorma for the thread hijack, but hopefully you will find some of this helpful. btw, soffseal does list a complete seal kit for a hardtop, but not a t-top kit. Does look like soffseal makes just about every seal though, but looks like you have to buy the pieces individually. I still plan on going with the gm t-top seals, ordering them today along with the outer window sweeps.

I bought soft seal stuff a while back. Man did it suck. The doors and windows leaked and I could even hear air coming in as i drove. And I am positive I put them in right. (i had plenty of people double check) The ends on mine were not reinforced, and the pegs, practically fell out of the strips. I am gonna stick to only GM, unless u guys post pics that prove that maybe these parts have been redesighned

I plan on doing a side by side comparison as much as possible with the door seals between the new soffseals I just bought and the original that is still on a door. There is a much bigger price difference between the door seals than the t-tops. GM door seals are about 3x the soffseal stuff, that is why I am looking at using the soffseal stuff first. If the quality of the soffseal stuff proves to be too bad, I can always return them to Summit as long as I do not install them.

I plan on going with GM for the t-top seals since it seems the majority of people complain about the aftermarket t-top seals.

couple years, max. I hated the stuff. Nothing fit quite right. GM stuff seems to have a "shell" and be very formed to the exact right shape. esspecially at the top of the window, where our cars has to "catch" the window.

softseal is just a bump while GM actually has a bot of a lip to catch the window and make a great seal.
