Aftermarket Trans Am Nose?
Hi All,
I'm in the process of getting my '86 Trans Am ready for paint. I got to looking at the nose on it and I think I should look for another one. I'd love to get a GM nose cover but they sure are expensive! I wonder if anyone has used an aftermarket one and if so where did you get it and how did it fit? It looks like I can get an aftermarket one about an hour away from here for about $180. I'm not sure who makes it. I'll have to find out. Anyone have any comments?
Thanks, Martin

most aftermarket covers will be fine.. it's the sheetmetal that's a tough fit.

Cool, I think I will do that. I have the car in primer. My arms hurt still from sanding. I can't wait to get the old girl painted! The car has been dull for far too long!
Thanks, Martin

the nose on my car is an aftermarket one.. fittment issues never really happened in my case. I can't, however, tell you which company made it.

my car received an aftermarket nose without me knowing when it was in the body shop. Everything fits up nice except for the driverside where it meets the ground effects. There's about a centimeter difference in length between the nose and the gfx. It's the little things that count...and in this case the aftermarket nose was not produced to factory specs.
I say go get a used one in decent condition and refinish it. Better fitment and GM quality.
