Do I have what I need?, repair questions...
I am going to be repairing the holes in my trunk area (spare tire area). I am going to be removing the rear bumper and cutting the bad area out. I plan on welding a new piece in. I have a couple questions. What should I use to clean the area, a scotch bright wheel on a drill? What would work good to cut the area out, I do not have a torch or cut off wheel. What gauge metal should I use? Also I will be using a cheap wire welder w/o gas, should I use the lowest temp and speed setting? Grounding on the metal and welding will I fry anything such as the computer? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Without a cut off wheel its going to be kinda hard to do what u want.
Go buy a elc one. Or something that u can hook up to a drill. So U can put a cut off wheel on
To clean the metal i use grinding dics. But u can use sand paper.(going to take forever) But u want the metal clean. Than get some welding primmer. Coat all bare metal.
before welding try ADJ. the amps & wire speed on some scrap matal.. My welder i have it set on Heat C and wire speed at around 4. But if u don't really know how to weld u might wanna turn it down a bit.
I allways disconect the battery before I weld no matter what.. If u do that u will not fry anything.

Thanks for the info, I will test the welder. It has been awhile since I welded. Will I have any issues if I am in the car while welding?

make sure to disconnect the battery before you weld on the car.
and do yourself a favor and buy a grinder and get a cutoff wheel or 5 for it, it should run you no more then $50 at home depot or lowes, you will thank yourself later.

if you have a air compresser or a friend with one I have found cheap overseas air grinders for about 20-30 bucks. I have had one for about 7-10 years with no problems. Just keep them oiled
