if it was from the track i believe both jegs and summit sell a spray to prevent that. just spray it on the rear quarter and at the end of the day just wipe it and it falls off. I've used it on my 79 Z for awhile now. Except i spray the inside of the fender as well. Whenever we get the 79 back out I'll see what its called. Its been a long time maybe they still sell it?

Axle/Gears: also under rated
starting fluid...works great without hurting the paint(to remove rubber)...oh and use PAM cooking spray before the track

I've also heard that sun tan lotion works well if used before doing burnouts. Just have to clean it off after you get home.

eastwood sells these put them on before u go to the track. Or u could leave them on so u don't get rock chips.
