Sanding GFX. Tips?
Ok I started sanding my GFX today, i got 80,180 and 600 grip sand paper. I tested those grids out on one of the back 1/4 panel sides. I sanded, primed and now im about to sand again and prime. Am i doing this right?
Also, my front bumper lip piece is a new aftermarket part and so is my back bumper, they both came black and theyve never been painted before. Should i sand those and prime them too?

what year are the GFX<S from.. If they are the flexable ones (areo style one) I would put a flex agent in the primmer.. Unless they say u don't have to. If u are just buzzing them doing stick with 180. One coat of primer should be enuff. wet sand with 320. If useing a sealer.. If not like 500 wetsand...
The back bumper I'm not sure. I know the one I got strip they put a thin coat of that black primmer on. If its new U been striped i would not bother priming.. But wet sand it down with 320.
thats strange y are there lines through what I typed

on the gfx do all ur sanding first then prime it and wet and it. theres no need to prime them if theres no deep gouges(sp) or major scratches. if there are then hit em with 220 grit dry. prime with a filler primer then wet sand with 600. ur new parts that are in black primer only need to be scuffed. ive used a grey scotch pad with good results but you could also wet sand those with 600. if your gfx are in good shape with just light scratchs or scuffs you should be able to sand those out with 600 and scuff them, no primer needed. hope this help if you need anymore info just pm me.

hey thanx for the info you guys. I just didnt want to paint over the old paint. the gfx are currently like a blue/green color and my car is going to be painted orange/redish. I just thought sanding and priming over the old paint would be best.

Not really. Depends what you mean by rough though. Primer may feel rougher than paint but it shouldn't be like sandpaper. Maybe you took too much off with the 80 grit sandpaper?

hmm idk it must be the primer because when i sanded it down it was very very smooth, but now that the primer is on its kinda rough. idk, i might go easy on the other side with the 180 , well see
