4th gen door handles

i ran a search and couldn't find exactly what i was looking for. i found in several different posts that the 4th gen door handles will bolt directly to a third gen door. i've also found many posts where people weld in the section surrounding the door handle from a different car, to get the flush door handles. what i want to know, is has anyone every tried installing 4th gen handles to make them flush. i've looked at a lot of different cars, and i think the 4th gen handle is the nicest looking out of all of them the way it sits flush and doesn't have a rectangle or oval surrounding it.

The handle itself bolts right in.

It won't sit flush like a 4th gen because of the shape of the door.

that's not what i'm asking. like i said, i realize that it will bolt directly to a 3rd gen door. what i want to do is cut out the door surrounding the handle (see pic) and weld that entire piece in. i know people have done this with other cars, but some have had issues with clearance. i'm wondering if anyone has tried this with a 4th gen handle.

4th gen exterior door panels are Plastic, so there would not be a way to "weld"...maybe a different type of bonding agent could be used, but i am not a body man.
Myself i am going with mid to late 90's chevy truck driver door handle and a tahoe rear passenger door handle for the passenger side so there would not be a door lock cynlinder on that side.
