key stuck on run postion
I cranked my car today and the dang key is stuck on run and I cant get the motor to guit running unless I pull the coil wire. When I cranked it I turned the ignition to start and then to run. It wont turn to off. I guess Ill have to take the steering calumn apart to fix it. Any one else have this happen.

I just had this happen 2 weeks ago, i ended up changing the ignition lock cylinder (on a vats car) anyway i just actually got it back together tonight. i used my factory service manual to put it back together, cause i forgot where some of the stuff went. the hardest part was running the wire from the lock cylinder, down through the column and into the vats box under the dash.

I've never had it locked with the car running, but I have had my key locked in while the ignition was on. Anyway, I played with the shifter a bit, shifted it back into park a few times and it unlocked. Might want to give that a try (just shift it out of park and back into park a few times)

DAVE88BIRD, where did you get a ignition lock cylinder. This sounds like it may be causing my problem.
CrazyHawaiian, tried that to. thanks

Pontiac dealership, the lock cylinder was $62.00 and of course you would need a new key at another $35.10 each (had to get 2)
becasue the new lock cylinder is keyed different. but the dealer had it all right on the shelf.
