Tail-Lights for 1982 Firebird
Hi All,
The tail-lights on my 1982 Firebird have begun to crack. They are cracking at the top of the center and right hand sections.
I think it might be due to age because the car was kept mostly outside from when the car was new up to 2002.
I was thinking about bring the car to the Nationals in MD until this happened.
So if any of you guys know where I can get some tail-light lenses please send PM.
Thanks

it seems everyone always wants away form them and wants the crap 85-up smooth ones instead, i dont knwo why when the 82 83 84 ones are badass looking finned and tinted and everything, i dont iunderstand it, ppl are odd,
i wont believe any crap about them being rare
jut cant, i have literally scrapped a few sets of black tinted 82 83 84 t/a taillights cuz got sick of trying ot get them to someoen, the ones on my 82 t/a are fine nice shape so i have no need for keeping any more, i have a pic somewhere i know opf the back of the car, i see them all the time early black tint, common, i thought all 82 83 84 birds got these?

good luck

Yeah, the base model birds got the red taillights without the black tint... I've got a whole set of the '82-'85 base model firebird taillights...

I've seen the tinted ones all over, but I think the ones without tint are harder to find. Not harder to the point of being rare (took me 5 minutes on ebay) but somewhat more difficult. Good luck.

I believe I saw a complete set of red ones intact at a local junkyard. If you're interested, I can ask how much they'd want for them next time I'm there.

Thanks for the offer. Please find out how much they are. Please make sure thay are mint. I also need a Automatic shifter plate for the Console. Please send me a PM with your contact information and I will call and respond with an Email.
I have purchase a lot of stuff off of EBAY. I have got some good and lots of not so good parts. So I will not buy anything else off of EBAY.
The Salvage yards here locally do-not have any more early thrid gen Firebird. So finding good parts locally is inpossible.

If you find a set of mint 1982 taillights, yes indeed, that would be rare.
Any taillights you find that are 23 years old will not be mint, so you can pretty much forget about that. The lenses will probably be foggy-looking, but that's an easy enough fix with fine grit sandpaper. You can make them look new by polishing them (discussed at length on the boards) but you'll never find a set of "mint" ones. The closest to mint you'll get is a set thats not cracked, and that's what you'll have to settle for.
No, the taillights on ebay are not mint. They have paint sprayed on parts of them. However, they don't appear to be cracked (contact the seller) and the paint will be completely gone once the lights are polished.
