how to fix the botton that makes front seats go foward also recovering seat questions

i just got a set of pmd seats and they need recovered and i need to know how you fix the botton you pull up to flip the front seat forward. right now they go forard if you pull on the seat.
these PMD seats are going in my 1991 camaro will this

i took mine off the other day, passenger side. had the same problem. looked at it, shook it, hit it with a hammer a couple of times, shook it some more. when i put it back on ,it worked! going to have to do the other side next.
