Wiper Switch Cover & Cruise Module

I am trying to add cruise control. I need to remove the plastic piece on the steering column that covers the wiper switch and the cruise wiring. I can see that it needs to slide toward the instrument panel, but it also has to be pryed away to allow it to slide. It's hard to explain, and I tried prying it earlier, buy I don't think I was doing it right and it would break if I kept prying that way. Has anyone removed this that knows a trick to it?

Also, I am trying to put in the cruise module. I have the shop manual and it sort of shows how it should go in, but there is a air duct in the way. Is there anything special I need to do for this?

Thanks for any help.

I dont know exactly what you mean because I have a tilt column so mine is a bit different. I have taken the column to put in a new multi function switch. I remember that it was a pain to remove and put back in. you may have to remove the colum or at least drop it down from under the dash to get that peice off. My car already had cruise so I dont know about the vents sorry.

Thanks for the help. It turned out that I was looking at the wrong bolt holes for the cruise module. Once I found the right set it was easy.

Also, I was finally able to get the cover off with a minimal amount of breakage. I had to lower the column a inch or two and remove the guage cluster bezel. Thanks again
