87 IROC for $250

I ran into a guy that was wanting to get rid of his Iroc that has been sitting fo a long while. He got it for free from somebody that wanted it hauled off (he does that kind of thing). He wanted $300 for it. a mutual friend of ours is going to offer him $250 for it on my behalf. I may go ahead and give him the $300 if he says no, but I think he will take it. It may be in my driveway before noon tommorow.

The car is white with red interior. It is an AT with 305TPI and T top. The guy said he drove it for a while until it quit running. I didnt get the key to try and start it, the guy wasnt home.

The interior looks to be in good shape if cleaned up, but the front seats may be goners do to bad staining. The dash pad doesnt have any cracks and may clean up good. The exterior is rough of course, but Ive seen much worse.
It has a broken rocker panel on the drivers side, a red replacement door on the drivers side, broken tail lights and a hanging air dam. The Ttops are in good shape. I figure they are worth $200 by themselves.
The car has 15 inch aftermarket wheels that were popular about 10 years ago, they should clean up real nice. I think all the tires were flat and worn.

I need a few things out of the car like the dash pad 'cause mine is cracked. I know they sell for around $100 on eBay. I may switch my bad stuff for the cars good stuff and sell the car for cheap or scrap later. But then again I may just try to get it running and looking good enough to sell. I will try to get some picures up this week if possible.

Did I score? Or do you guys see deals like this alot?

Meh...it's only a 305. Besides, by the sounds of it he wants it for parts. If the rust aspect of it is low, and it's not to seriously banged up, $300 seems like a good deal. If you get it, pull up the carpet and check the floor pans. If their rotted part it. We all know about leaky t-top seals...lol!

The 305 is not running according to the guy, probably something major. He didnt know if it was a 305 or a 350, unfortunately its a 305...

Forgot to mention that it is sitting next to a couple of trees in the grass. Mold on white paint sure is ugly. Time to get out the pressure washer this weekend...

If I cant get it running its no big deal. I can strip it to death and he will haul it away for free.

The TPI intake alone will bring you some money if it isn't really dinged up.

Not always so with mold. My RS sat under a pine tree in the woods for over a year, had sap, mold, bugs, pine needles, but no rust. I would also thoroughly check why the car doesn't run before considering parting. I got mine for $350 and suposedly it had a rod knock when in reality it had a hole in the rubber in tank fuel line and was knocking because it wasn't getting enough fuel. Did I mention I got mine from the original owner with full leather in good condition sorry just had to brag. Sounds like a great deal, good luck with it

I picked up a '91 Firebird with T-tops and a 305 TBI for $600.

Odometer shows 119,00 miles, engine is clean and fires up quickly. Have to fix a left front fender, headlight, and nose cone.
Interior is spotless, but missing the door map and cup holders.

Jim.

T-tops aren't worth $200.

Sounds like a good car if you're into fixing up stuff. I did that with my first car and don't regret buying a second car that doesn't need alot of work.

what i always like to think is add up all the sellable parts then decide if you have a good deal, EX: Dash $50-70 TPI: $100-200 T-Tops: $100 Old Rims $100? From what it seems, why not buy it , $250 cant get you much thesedays. There is always that certain part that someone needs and is willing to pay good money for it. Good Luck just my $.02

Decided to just buy the parts off the car and let him haul it away. My '92 isnt perfect and I would rather spend the money on it rather than start a project car.

I remember gladly paying $200+ for a set of T-Tops 'back in the day. Some sets were selling for much more. I guess demand isnt as great as it was when the 3rd Gens were fairly new.

The TPI plenum and runners are in Excellent shape.
