need help wiring new tails
i have an 1987 base model firebird and will be changing my original tail lights to 1986 trans am tail lights. what i need to know is what to do about the lights bulbs? what i mean is my car has 6 bulbs for each light but the trans am lights only have 4. do i need to swap the wiring as well or should plug in the ones i need and cut the remaining two? i know other people have done this so help me out here.
o and before anyone says it, i tried searching and found nothing
Thanx in advance

I did this on my Formula wow 7-8 years ago now, anyway you'll need to swap the turn signal socket from your stock taillights to one that will fit the T/A taillights. as for the 2 smaller bulbs, all i did was cut off the sockets and taped off the wires with electrical tape and tucked them into the light harness.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't you only need to replace the rear wiring harness, like Jproz1167 was alluding to?

yeah i was wondering......do you just have to get the wiring harness from a Trans Am to get the lights to work on a Firebird? I know you have to get alll of it though. Including the hatch motor wiring as it is included into the wiring. BTW, I just checked and the wiring has a connection right behind or by the driver passenger seat. Will it work? Or is it somehow set up differently before this harness wiring?

I just did this last weekend and Dave84Bird's right, it's easier to just wire on the T/A light sockets.
The T/A harness won't "plug & play" because the T/A uses the brake lights as the turn signals and the base model has them seperated.
