Time for a new Camaro :(

Well, I pulled the carpet up to run some amp wires, and this is what I found. I don't think you're supposed to see the fuel lines or the ground from the inside...

I knew I needed new 1/4s, and I was going to put them on, but now that I need floors too, screw it. I'm just going to find a mint rolling chassis and put my new motor into it.

no biggie there, either fab upa some sheet metal and make a patch pannel or buy a piece of floor from a JY.

Car: '91 Firebird (blown apart)

Transmission: Slushbox
I agree with aaron. There are still alot of low rust/rust free 3rd's running around and alot just sitting, waiting to found. Hell, my '91 has all of three dime sized spots of rust on the entire body. But, bad floors ON TOP OF bad 1/4's....to much work for a car this common. Good luck with the search for a new Camaro aaron.

I'm in the same spot...my car is rusted all to hell...I love the car, but I mean how much time/money am I gunna put into a car that is disintegrating? Literally, I can find spots on the car like in the wheel wells where the metal just crumbles when touched.

At least I'm not alone.

The rear quarters are non-existent. I took the GFX off and found NO metal under them! I fiberglassed and bondoed everything, and I was planning on putting a new motor in it along with a roll cage.

So.... I'll give it a good life till I find my new Iroc. lol

My feelings exactly, man. I want to upgrade to an IROC myself...so I just wanna keep this guy alive until I have a decent amount of cash saved. But living in Canada and having to drive the sucker to work some days in the snow....no damn good. Another possibility.....is to keep the V6 going...get the IROC...and keep both going...storing the IROC during winter...and the V6 during summer....it's a good car in snow .

thats not that bad.could have it worse like mine.
i need - both 1/4 panels, both fenders, both doors, both floor pans, both rear wheel wells, driverside rocker panel, driverside strut tower, small section of roof right behind the ttops. sounds like alot but really its just all small stuff rangin from a small like finger nail sized hole to the size of your fist hole. and i think my chassie is twisted since i tryed to put my edelbrock STB on and it hits the hood on the passenger side alot. pervious owner told me he hit a deer but there isnt anything actaully bent, looks straight.

the hole you have there is totally fixable.

Fixable? Yes. Worth it? No. These cars are a dime a dozen, and solid (or much more solid) bodied cars can be had for around $500-1000 any day of the week... the price of getting the quarters fixed!

I'm in a similar situation I have two cars. An '88 SC that doesn't have a single straight-rust-free panel on it, and an '82 rolling chassis v6 car. The v6 car is straight, but the car I drive is falling apart!!!! I don't know what to do, I want to be able to sell it, but I don't know if anyone will buy it, as it's falling apart
I want to sell it so I can get the motor for the '82 built so i can drive that one around, but I'm stuck

When cars are too rotted or damaged to sell as a whole, part it out in the classifieds! I'm sure you will sell every part!

PA is right there with ya trust me, this is the exact reason I just sanded my floor boards down a couple weeks ago and repainted them with rustoleum and then undercoated them with rubberized undercoating, looks brand new under there nowand since it gets parked during th winter months it should last a very long time

I graduated with the kid i bought my IROC from (I actually bought it four days after we had our ceremony). It never saw winters until he bought it. It had a bunch of rock chips and the salt got into those and rotted out a nasty hole on the passengers side (which i have gotten fixed). Otherwise, the only rust i have on the inside is a a litte bit of surface rust where the drivers feet goes.. on the inside only, too.. lol. Im gonna paint that down with POR15 in the next couple of weeks. Also, it has a nasty spot that is prolly close to going through on the passengers side (from the inside only) from the leaky t-top dripping on it everytime it rains over the years.. im just gonna cut out that part and weld in some new metal.. the whole area to be fixed for that will only be around 3" X 3". Not too bad.
Thank *** the car had wheel-well and undercoats..
