Hood Question

I'm not sure what the name of the hood is but certain year Formulas (maybe Trans Ams as well??) were made with a very light stock hood. I have one on my 88 Formula. It's the one with the bulge in it. I was wondering, did third gen Camaro's ever have a comparable hood? I might be buying a Camaro over the summer and i'm very interested in weight reduction. I really like the Iroc hood with the louvers in it but if that's a heavy hood, i'd much rather buy a 2" cowl induction made of fiberglass. Thanks in advance.

The hood on my 88 Formula feels feather light. The hood on my 95 T/A feels like it weighs a ton (steel hood).

There shouldn't be any reason they're lighter than any other stock steel thirdgen hood.

Maybe your 95's hood shocks are blown.

The hood is just super light. The hood on my 86 Monte was really heavy, the hood on my 95 T/A is heavy and just about every other hood i've ever felt seemed to weigh a lot. I could lift the hood on the Formula effortlessly with my little finger.

in the early 80's (82-83 i believe) the power bulge hood was avalible in aluminum. if you hood is one of those there will be an A stamped on it somewhere. thats the only kind of light weight hood there was for the firebirds. the camaros from 82-some 83 were avalible with a fibre glass Z/28 hood with the indentaions like an iroc hood but with functional vents at the rear to allow air into the motor. let me know if you need any more info or have anymore questions.

o yea by the way the aluminum power bulge hoods are very hard to find.
