You could try lowering the hood latching mechanism a bit. Not sure if that would work though.

yeah that sounds right.. because the latch is what controls the height of the front. once you have adjusted that, re adjust the front stoppers you lowered so that you can't flex the corners of the hood down.

I used a pretty thick stack of washers to actually raise my front facia to meet the hood. Go to a hardware store and buy enough washers to make an inch tall stack of washers for each of the screws circled in the picture, longer replacement screws and a washer that'll fit each screw. Take out each of these screws, put the stack of washers under the front facia between it and the body, and put your longer screw and washer in.

It might take a little tinkering to get it just right, but it definitely makes the hood sit flush with the front end.

The latch is just held on by two bolts. Just loosten them and move the latch up or down. If you need more room to slide the latch down you could make the holes longer with a die grinder.

Try the washer way. No cutting, and if the hood is sitting at the right level to the fenders, the only thing you should change is the front facia so it will match the level of everything else.

My car looked exactly the same. All the washers will raise is the area between the headlights. I don't have any good pictures now because my hood is off for an LT1 swap, but here are some pictures of what my car looked like after I used the washers to raise that section. The only place you want to put the stacks of washers is where that plastic cover is between the headlights, and that's the only place that it'll lift.

Dude! Loosen up the 10mm screws that hold your hood to the hinges. Slide the hood back an inch or so and your problem will be fixed. Don't mess with the latch just yet and don't use washers to RIG (yes I said rig) the front bumper cover.

It looks like the body shop already did that soooo. You need to adjust where the hinges bolt to the fenders. You will see the 10mm bolts on the bottom of the hinge assemblys. Loosen and move back an inch and tighten them back up. Close the hood slowly checking for clearance on the sides. If all looks well let it close. Post pics of your newly aligned hood position.

Can you push the hood down and make it look right? I needed a new hood a few years back and I also got a new spring which was WAY too stiff and kept the hood JUST like in you picture. I compressed it in a vice, and then it was just right. (not real scientific, but it worked )

The reason our cars commonly have trouble with a gap between the front bumper cover and the hood is not because the latch magically changes positions, the rubber hood stops start growing, or the hood suddenly moves in the wrong direction. It is because after 15 years on the road, the polyurethane bumper has started to sag. The logical way to fix this would seem to be to raise up the front bumper to compensate for the sagging. Granted, your way may work, but no better than mine.

My solution was quick, easy, low-cost, and permanent. Nobody would ever know there's a single washer there. There's no reason for you to make it seem like I'm suggesting an inferior solution that doesn't even work and may not be permanent.

Plus I don't have to worry about mounting my hood in exactly the right spot so it'll match up with the front facia every time I take it off to work on the engine.
