People that recovered your headliner...

...and bought material at a fabric/craft store... do you by chance know the name/type of fabric you used? I stopped at JoAnne's on the way home, and the lady there wasn't helpful at all...

What do you mean, "recovered", do you mean "restored" or are you doing something to your t-tops that involves fabric. Or better yet, are you referring to a Vert top ?

Go to an autopartst store like Pep Boys. They sell the material & the glue you need. Now is not an easy job I think your better off getting a proffesional to do the job.

Yeah... I meant headliner... I made a mistake, and didn't realize it until after I posted... and it wouldn't let me edit it

I've done fabrications before, so I'm not really afraid to take the job on. I recovered my sail panel speaker covers, and they turned out nice. I found the material I was searching for... $4.00 for 2 yards and $15 for 3M adhesive glue.

Thanks anyways tho!

I actually used tweed on mine. It is semi thick and was a pain in the rear to do the inside corners of the t-top parts. i would imagaine a hardtop to be very easy .
anyway just make sure you get all the old black foamy stuff off and use a good glue, i would recommend the 3M stuff as someone else mentiones above. Good Luck.

Wow that looks nice! I just finished recovering mine (3m glue used!) so we'll see how they turn out. If I had it to do over again, I think I would approach it a little bit differently than I just did, but it looks like it shall work!

I got mine from Hancock Fabrics... Silly girlie craft store called it headliner material, who'd-a thunk it?

mmm i tryed recovering my ttop one with vinal and was not going too well... also a fighting old sagy liner. Basicaly it needs to bee all redone the vinal shrank (and doesnt stretch well and pulled in on the corners revealing the cuts and looks nasty when i take my ttops out.... i find it pretty embarising to have a crapy headliner almost thinking on taking it out but theres met blue paint under it...that would show up too much on my car.

I recomend if someone is to recovering using a non or less streachy material like vinal or leather dont use the factory headliner board youll probably need an aftermarket abs one.

So because my board is really messed where is the cheapest place to find a not covered abs one??

How messed up is it? You know, to harden it, you could just apoxy it... Then you could even sand it down if it's a little warped. But it's it's too far gone for that... I can't help ya.

yah its far gone... you know how you open the ttops and my liner dosent come tight up to the car body... like the lip sags down and you can see under the headliner. Id probably have to pour on almost a full gallon of resin to get it to harden but then it still will looked saggy and loose around the edges. I could do it im sure but id go thru a lot of resin and have to reshape it before it hardens... also its broken and has been repaired with plastic and hot glue from a previuos owner. Id be better off to find a different stock one to apoxy up.

speaking of that my firebird has no ttop liner either when i bought it. Too bad i couldnt get a 2 for 1 deal hehe
