getting seats out
OK heres my situation. The guy who owned my car before me didnt take very good care of it. The nuts that hold the seats down on the drivers seat are totally rusted to the bolts. I think ive succeeded in strippin the outside nut on the drivers seat at the front. No if i have to hack this off with a Whizzer wheel or sawzall, is there a way to attach another bolt through the floor so that I will have something to attach the seat to? IS the bolt that is coming up through the floor part of the floor pan? or is it welded? Thanx.

The bolt is welded into a rail that in turn is attached to a brace thats welded to the floor pan. You could cut it off and weld another stud back on but it might be easier to try to salvage the original stud if possible.

I agree wd40 did wonders.. mine where rusty too.. soaked them real good. and once off took a wire brush to the stud to clean it up. now they are all fine. I also put some anti-seize compound on it before tightening them back down.

when they say soak it, they mean soak it... try spraying the sucker maybe 3 times over the course of a day, let it sit over night, and try your luck with the vice grips the next day... if that doesn't work, try and hammer a smaller sized socket onto the bolt and using a ratchet... as a last resort, you'd need to cut the thing outa there and weld on a new stud. If you can weld, or you have a friend that can weld, that'd be pretty convenient.. however, you could probably get some guys at an exhaust shop to do that for you if need be...

craftsman has a socket specifically for rusted and stripped nuts...it literally cuts into the bolt to get the best grip...use those and wd-40. good luck

I have to admit the craftsmen damaged bolt out remover does work well on other applications that i have used it on, Never tried taking my seats out so i cant see it, but it might be worth it to spend $20 and get it.
