What do you guys think of this HOOD? Any others?

Hey guys. I need to find a hood for my '88 trans am that has some more hood clerance for my nitrous plate. As is with stock hood and no plate its TIGHT.

I was thinking about this hood from HAWK. Anyone ever seen one? Had experience with these guys?

http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/in...?v=1&pid=11393

ideally i would like a 2" cowl...but nobody seems to make one for a '88 bird....only for camaros.

Any suggestions, more pics of the above hood or feedback??? Thanks a lot. My car is getting painted now and the fenders are off...now is the time to get one.

www.glasstek.com has some nice fiberglass hoods for camaros and firebirds. i have their 4 inch cowl which i'm sure is a little big for what you're thinking of doing.

i like how you can tell the car they test fit it on for the pics has been sitting behind someones garage for the past 5 years. See all them pine needles between the hood and the windsheild?!?

yea, 2 inch would look better, but i dont think it looks to great on the firebirds anyway, i like the 4th gen style ram air hoods on the firebirds, and then that shorter firehawk style one.

Hey man, thanks for that link. Their hood looks good. Any pics of your car with it painted or more hood pics?

Any more suggestions? 4" might be too big....but might have to do if I can't find anything else. The pics of their hood look like its good stuff.

Thanks a LOT.

Cool, thanks man. I still need to find out how much hood clerance that hood has, and, if there are any other options. Like I said, I would really like a 2 or a 3" cowl.

all the pics i have are in my cardomain site presently. i know glasstek makes a 2inch cowl for firebirds as well. so if you're interested you'd have to call them up. hood won't be painted for another month as i'm still wiring the car up. the body guy i have said the hood is in great shape for a fiberglass hood and won't need much work before paint.

I was going to order the glastek until i called and they gave me some bs story about 3 weeks to even ship then 4-5 weeks in shipping after they said, it'll be put on a truck when you call earlier when i talked to em. I called harwood and for like 60 bucks more than glasstek i had a 4" show series shipped to my door in exactly 7 days. I will never do business with any other company than harwood. I have had good luck and my dad always had great luck with them on his drag cars. That and i think it looks smoother than the glasstek put that on a bird and i think it would look awesome on a bird i always wanted one on my 85 since you dont see em that much

Plus a finished underside, not trying to sway your choices or anyything but just giving you a quality brand to give thought too
