Front Clip Swap
okay i couldnt find a previous thread on it but i had a question as to the front end swap. okay i have an 89 firebird v6 soon to have an engine swap. well anyways we have been bored at our shop so we were wondering about if the front clip off of a camaro would fint on a firebird. front clip I.E. hood fenders bumper and headlight assembly. i mean i know it might take some fabrication on the fenders mabey but was just wondering if anyone has done this or has seen it done before? thanks for the input

wow that looks nice. i figured its been done before. i was just wondering if anyone has done this before on this board. or at least knows someone who does. cause the main question i have is since camaros and firebirds are so closely alike would the front end be pretty much a bolt up and go thing? or would it take alot of fabrication on like the headlights and fenders? i mean if noone has done it then ill make sure to post a step by step with pictures on mine when its done. cause im doing the engine swap as well as the front clip all at once. and im doing it whether hard or not. but anyways thanks for the pics

^^^ so that means the camaro headlight assembly should bolt right up on the firebird radiatior support right? im guessing yes since they are pretty much alike. im going this weekend to get the front clip off another camaro so hopefully it all works out. if anyone knows anything else please let me know.

^^^ well im prolly gonna be doing it in the next few weeks. i went and priced it out at u-pull it and it s not that bad. and looks like its gonna be an easy job. youll end up seeing it at one of the meets. if your ever not sick. but it wont be painted till im done with the engine so i dont scratch anything while putting it in.

well i also sent an email to Hawks Third Gen Part online. one of the sponsors here on thirdgen.org. anyways this is what i wrote to them
thats what i put. and their response was this in exact font
well alot of explaining there. seems like they want my buisness. not bashing them i just figured it would be a little more explanitory. but oh well ive been told by so many that it will work so im going to attempt it anyways reguardless what they say. and if they are right then oh well. still had fun
end rant.
i have a 89 firebird. i am currently doing an engine swap from v6
to v8. i am soon going to be ordering parts from your website because ive
found alot of hard to find parts on your web site. anyways the question i
had was while i have everything apart on my car (im doing body work as well)
was that i wanted to know if the front clip of a camaro same year would fit
on my firebird. front clip meaning hood, fenders, headlights and front
bumper? if it does fit i will be ordering it from you. it doesnt matter if
there is little fabrication needed on the fenders and what not to work.
anyways if you could email me back and let me know if it does or doesnt that
would be great. thanks alot for your time and effort.

I swapped the nose off an 84 Z-28 on my 85 'bird after the wife stuck it's nose out too far. It's a direct swap, just make sure the get the headlight harness too...its different.

I just did the swap, i have pics but they are too big to post, the only thing i ran into trouble on was the front bumper, not the nose or the absorber pad but the actual metal bumper itself, I thought they were both the same on the bird and camaro but nope
