fixing speedometer

Does anyone know how I can drop my speedometer down 10mph? It is in accurate and need to fix it by dropping it by 10mph. I drive a 1991 firebird. Can I just tweak the speedometer itself or do I need to by a gear with more teeth?

Changing the gear won't fix a constant error. You could try carefully pulling the needle off and putting it back on in the right spot.

When taking the needle off, I just gently pull it off? I don't have to undo anything?

I don't know, I've never managed to pry hard enough to get a needle off without chickening out for fear of breaking it.
