ground effects on 89 RS

Car: '86 IROC, black and sharp
Engine: 305 tpi, bone stock
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.42 pos w/rear db
ground effects on 89 RS
Just bought an 89 RS (305 tbi and 5 spd). It has the ground effects with the little scoops in them just in front of all 4 tires. I didn't know these were on 89's. According to the tag on the driver's door the car was made in Mar. 1989 (late production for that year??) I guess they could have been replaced but the clear coat on the hood and hatch is flaking up/peeling so it looks like it might be factory paint. Did some of the later 89's have that type of ground effects?

That car must have had a really good life. The GM paintjobs in 88-90 sucked. They actually had a 5-year recall on them I believe...
