-keep the guages looking factory, but have the speedo recalibrated for 160, maybe 180 mph, with custom inlays, tach with correct inlay for redline for current engine. shift light hidden
-redo the door panels and get rid of all the squeeks and rattles
-better seats but not anything full race, semi-factory pattern
-custom center console
-steering wheel, but not one of those cheap GT ones from Autozone, maybe something factory from another car if possible
-better lighting, such as footwell lighting, rear seat lighting, maybe theater lighting
-faster window motors

thats true, but not for what I want. I more of the custom-with-subtlety kind of person. about the only that new that would accomplish some of the things on my list would be little seals and bumpers and stuff to get rid of the squeeks/rattles.

Stock. I love that big slab of a dash pad. 4th gen consel's look out of place in our cars.

I'd like some aluminum accents, but nothing too tacky or gawdy. Something simple, like thin rings around the gauges and perhaps the shift lever opening in the center console, and a couple small accents on the doors. For the seats, I'd love some Flo Fit or similar seats with regular leather around the perimiter, and suede inserts. Oh yeah, and a Grant Collectors wheel with a suede insert on the top 1/4 of the wheel.

I'd like my interior to be more like my Jetta's... Solid!
Actually, when I put in the Recaros, the MOMO wheel, the Dynamat, etc, I was attempting to make it more like the Jetta on the inside. Later this year I am going to do a custom dash and pad more like that on an Acura NSX with the new Auto Meter "Nexus" Gauges (SCHWEET)!!!!

I agree with your decision to do a custom dash MurcoRS. The NSX dash is sweet! The front arcreage on these 3rd gens are just aching for something to be changed on them... custom speaker pods on the sides, a curve here, a tuck there...maybe even add a small "rise" above the center console area and add some system/vehicle monitor LED's just to break the flat line of the dash up... Add something!
The 4th gen dash swap looks good, but it can only look as good as a stock 4th gen or a mixture of the two... where's the fun in that?
Custom door panels please, in seat matching flavors. Max of two colors as someone else mentioned. Above that, add in your choice of metal or CF accents on top of that if the two colors are not enough.
Movement assisted panels are really cool. I know you've shown some interest in the past for acctuators and they carry over really well into the interior when properly hidden from view. Opening center console lids, hidden panels covering an amp or EQ, folding down the back seat halves, etc.
Probably not a show car thing you'd be going for kandied, but for my driver TA I'm building a custom one piece center console/radio pod (TA's have two pieces). One long piece of aluminum will curve down from the radio pod position into the center console and flow all the way to the lid/armrest position (kind of like powermite's, but one custom piece with fiberglass/vinyl covered sides to match)
