help with new wheels

I have an 85 Berlinetta Coupe that had old style (60's) rallies on it. I recently got 85 Z rims to put on the car. I have correctly located front and rear wheels, but the front studs do not appear to be long enough to fully thread on the lug nuts. I do not have stock lug nuts for the Z rims. Is this my problem or are the studs a different size on the Z28. Thanks for the help.
