And especially since the "short-throw wannabe" Hurst shifter had a very long throw, I just got pi**ed and shortened it (cut it in half). Feels MUCH more like a sports car now (instead of like a truck).
Hope this helps.
Lou
P.S.: You can see pics here in my album.

If you've got a factory installed airbag you may also be interested in my post about install issues.

I made my own shifter... a couple times!
This one is for the T5 I'm using now. I haven't done anything with my 4-speed yet, as its still sitting in a box in my basement
This is the stock T5 handle I modified when I got bored one day... I chopped off the top and welded on a 1/2-20 thread so it would fit basically any **** out there (you can see where it narrows down near the top). This pic is from when I just got the welding, grinding, etc.. almost done, just needed a little cosmetic work and paint.
I also curved it back a bit, because I thought it looked kick ***! Feels really cool too, way better than a straight stick... if you've driven any muscle car with a curled back shifter, you know what I mean

okay i was kinda keeping this under wraps untill i finished it but this thread came along and i decided i could give you guys a sneak peak
its an overlay i made for the stock shift pattern, all my numbers are worn off on the stock one. its white platic with a design printed on top, used an engraving machine in our machine shop, engrave the surface with a shift pattern and viola! a simulated carbon fiber plate with an engraved shift pattern that will never wear away and will always look good.
in a few weeks all the panels on my dash with be made out of this plastic, then ill be the only 3rd gen with a simulated carbon fiber dash insert kit (i think????)

thats because the camera was 3 inches away, when your sitting in the car and your 1.5-2 feet away it looks like carbon fiber, thats why its called simulated carbon fiber. same thing in my moms 2004 Envoy, it came with 'simulated carbon fiber' from a distance of a few feet, like in a regular normal sitting position it looks like carbon fiber, but you get close and see that its just little different colored triangles

Thanks for the compliments, Nick! The seats are from a 2000 Firebird, gray leather with driver's power. Console is an actual 5 speed console from a 2002 Firebird (from a V6 car). Took a long time to find that one! But worth it in my opinion.
The window switches are 3rd Gen mounted on a plate attached inside the ashtray.
The mirror switch is 4th Gen attached to a plate I mounted in the front cubby hole.
Again, THANKS!
