new on the block w/cupholder?
Hello everyone,I recently went to pic a part and saw some cool cupholders on the door of a 92 firebird.I know my 82 firebird s/e did not ever have any but I got them anyways and before I take my interior door apart to install them I was wondering if they will even have a place to bolt on my door .
thanks,Rich

If they fit on a 92, they should fit on your 82. The ones on the 92 can't possibly be stock, since our cars never came with stock cup holders.

They will fit on your car, but your inner door panel won't have the square holes that were punched into the later model doors (90+) to attach it to. This is not a problem. All you'll have to do is position the cup holder with map pocket onto the door, mark the location then drill through with a small drill bit. Remove the door tim panel and drill a larger hole for your screw. The OEM method of attachment pops a white plastic insert (commonly used to attach license plates) into a square hole. The screws that attach the cup holder attach to those plastic inserts.

FYI installing these in Camaros requires fabrication of a mounting plate for the top screw, as it is located in an empty area of power window doors.

And here's what most driver's sides look like.. (the cp holders tend to break pretty easy over time)
At least you can see the three holes needed to attach.
