Anyone have a all black interior
I was thanking of doing the interior on my black firebird. My idea was to recover the front seats in black vinyl, black carpet and black everything else out. Does anyone have any pictures of an all black interior thirdgen?
#3
I swapped my grey OE interior out for all black as well. I rounded up all the interior plastics and what I couldn't find I sprayed with vinyl dye. Recently swapped in a full set of 4th gen ebony leather seats as well to finish it off right. Even made my own door panels in leatherette(vinyl) since I didn't like the aftermarket repros currently available. I have pics but they are too large to post here. If you like I can email them to you.

Hey 82knightrider, do you have anymore? i have blue interior and wouldnt mind doing what you did. Did you just take em off and spray them? I think it looks good, especially since my blue is kinda faded

thanks for the comp.
When I 1st bought the car the hatch panels was such an eyesore,it was blue but scratched bad.One day I saw a krylon fusion commercial and said to myself,"how much worse can I make it.So I bought 3 cans (black),took all my panels out and painted those badboys. They dry really nice if you let them sit for a few days(trust me). Then after they dry spray some turtle wax tire shiner all over them, they will look like new.

the reason u see scratches in my painted panels is because I did not do any sanding before I painted,But if u take time and prep them before u paint they will come out Excellent!

83 maro,
If you go with the blue can test it first cuz I thought it was ugly,I even tried the other shade of blue and was worse so I went with black which I liked.Theres other colors but I didnt try those.Oh yeah, I got my money back for the blue cans

I did mine by just scrubbing them with a plastic interior brush and a 4L bucket of warm water with TSP in it, make sure you do something like that to remove all grease/silicone before you paint, otherwise it'll just flake off in a few days (been there)
Mine has held up nicely though.
Mine didn't hide the previous scratches, and i've got a few panels left to do, what grit do you think would work? I figured that would sand off all the texture?

Thats kinda funny ,I didnt sand them becauase I was affraid of ruining the texture too.I figuered that theres more nice texture left then there is scratches so I just cleaned them good and painted them.

My old 85 had completley black interior, including the seats which were in vinyl. It looked really good, but as the A/C didn't work it was a bit like driving the sun on hot days.

i dont think it should be a problem if you keep up on it and dont let it fade. like clean it once in a while. also i have tint and its friggin dark so i dont think ill have a problem with it. if your worried about fading then mabey try some light tint and sunshades like 84 1LE said

i just recently decided to go to all black and it will pay off defenitly. i got new black carpet, already had black racing seats, painted most interior pieces black and am aquiring the last few things i need to finish it up. it wont go in until the new engine this summer but i have it all. black 2000 TA center console and im building a rear seat delete/amp rack/n20 bottle rack carpeted black along with my new sub box. the paint actually turned out excellent and saved my hundreds. i know it will look all brand new and amazing when i get it all back together!

My interior on my 91 is all black (except for my gauge cluster I painted red to match the body color) and I wouldn't have it any other way. Blacker is better when it comes to interiors.
