Totalled rear on vicious :( pictures inside
Was on lunch break at work and we only get 1/2 hr so i get in my car and start driving.. noticing at the turn that my supervisor is behind me.... i decided to show off... i floor it wide open around the corner with a massive fish tail.... my car slid out of control right into a set of telephone pole steel cables and i was hung up in the air about 3 feet on the cables... my supervisor ran up to the car to see if i was ok,,, i told him i was fine although in truth my back is damaged and so is my left leg... im stuck with a cramp in my leg that wont go away and a lower back pain... some guys on a sports bike pull up and saw if i was alright and he tried to help me push my car off the cables... the cable was behind my wheel well and my wheel.. we couldnt move it... so more and more people stopped to help and we finally got it to fall to the ground... the guy on the bike told me that he had a friend that does autobody repair for resonable prices... and pointed at his bike and told me he had the guy paint it and fix it when he crashed it... he told me its just body damage and i should be alright as far as that goes... everyone wastelling me i needed toget unstuck and haul ***.... the cops would write me a ticket and make me fix the lines... got away free there...
how bad does the damage look to u pros i know i need new quarter panel and bumper.. i hope there is not frame ndamage causes that would cost ALOT to get fixed... i refuse to total it. stills drives straight and my doors open and close alright so .... dunno...
here are some pics as i promised

I'm no pro, but it looks bad. Being that the body and frame are integrated, it seems entirely possible that pushing up the rear quarter like that could have bent the rear subframe. It's a shame either way, because your car looks pretty sweet. I'd say get it to a professional shop that can put it on a frame rack and tell you for sure if it's tweeked or not. Anything said on here from looking at pictures will be guesses.

I agree that it looks pretty bad. From the pic I would say it looks like it's tweeked up 4-6 inches on that right side. It will be really hard to get it square again. Infact, I doubt you'll ever get your rear hatch to seal properly again. BUT, I've seen alot worse come out decent. Just depends on how much $ your willing to throw at it, my sister rolled her 4th gen about 4 times and $1600 later it looked like new, it blew my mind. Sorry about your loss bro, hope it's not as bad as it looks in the pics. Keep us posted on what you find out.

That is not bad at all. All you did was rip the bumper cover and slighly wrinkle the quarter. Dont junk it. Save your money this winter and collect parts from the junkyard. You could even get that area of metal cut from a donar car. It doesn't look like any frame damage from where I sit.

Theres only one real way to truely check to see if you have tweaked the frame. You'll have to take it to a shop and have them test to see for sure. Shouldn't cost much for them to just do that, some shops may even offer to test that for free.
You may have gotten lucky and just lifted the right rear quarterpanel up a few inches and thats why your hatch isnt closing properly. But then again the rear end could be twisted from the hit.

And by the way Incoming, you haven't lost everything. Just set yourself back a notch. I'm sure it's fixable.

i mean this in a serious and not a mean/insulting way at all..
it would probly be a good idea for you to take a performance driving class of some sort so that when you do break traction, you know how to correct out of it.
basicly, anyone who fishtails, could use some help... you're overcorrecting..... only exception to that would be on snow/ice where the friction coefficent changes frequently and is very low.... that and sportbike tank slappers.. lol.

Put the car on a frame straightener to get it untweaked. It may take a few days, but it will get the body in the shape it's supposed to be, albeit weaker than it was before you ended up on the cable. You will likely need some frame reinforcement after getting it straightened, and parts may break while being straightened, so prepare for some part replacement. Subframe connectors and/or a cage will do wonders after straightening...
...Wait a minute, where did you come from Mark?? I haven't seen you on here in a while

Well aat least you were not going that fast. I started fishtailing about 110 in my mustang cause i had to change lanes rather quickly(don't ask) and was not used to the car yet. Yup it got real messy after that it swung back to the left and hit a car going the other way. What a ride. I am glad no one got hurt was a very stupid moment in my life. Oh and boys and girls that is why you should not street race.Pic here

HOLY CRAP! Ziggster you did a number on that Stang! Looks like the whole rear end got knocked off. Your lucky to be alive, 2 feet closer to the front and I don't think you would have made it. Incoming, those pics should make you realize how easy you got it. Could be alot worse.

my suggestion is that you learn to control your vehicle before you pull stunts like that....i would say if the frame is bent not worth it...your whole handling/alinment will change forever

Ouch, that gouge is pretty fierce. It's definitely a major setback, but all things considered you're quite lucky. It could've been a lot worse. That may seem a bit trite, but the point is that the damage doesn't appear disastrous - especially if you're adept at bodywork.
That's a really sweet car, and if I were the owner I'd do everything possible to repair it completely. You don't want to find yourself fifty years from now, swaying in a rocking chair in a nursing home outside of Virginia, moaning about the "one that got away" to all your elderly friends already knocked out by the nighttime meds.
Keep us updated on any progress - and I'm sure everyone here will be glad to help with any repair questions. Good luck man!

Cant really picture the steel poles, tho your car slit onto the poles, the cable just seems to have gone right between the bumper cover and rear quarter.
Obviously, the quarter was lifted since it had quite a bit of weight on it, I dont see why the frame would be affected..
But you replies that the bodyman said it has to be straightened .
Too bad, its a lot of dough for a mistake instead of a mod, all tho,
the lesson is learned..
Good luck with the rebuild.
ps. I lost my first 3rd gen, a 87 Iroc G92 the same way Ziggster did, I played, I payed .. too bad I lost

I totalled my 85 z28 as a result of playing around and didn't even get a chance to post pix up here in the 8 months I owned her, so im chalking up the 3000 dollar loss and now I picked up an 85 iroc with some rust damage for 600 and im starting to swap parts. Everything would be great if I was just working but unfortunely I'm just another poor freshman architect college kid.
/and the 85 came from family so I understand sedimental value, but the I'd rather pay 2000 to build a 383 then straighten a frame, jmo

Funny, I played and played, earned a rep with my car and someone stole it to pull the drivetrain. Maybe I should have not learned control first so I could wreck my car rather than build it.
As for mistakes... there is a difference between a mistake and stupidity. A mistake is say, driving home after working 20 hours on a double shift so you won't lose your job and nodding off and crashing compared to say, trying to hotdog around a corner in a solid axle rwd car and crashing.

It could be worse, I suppose. At least you didn't try to label his car as a particular food that's a staple of Japanese cuisine.
