what size torx for cluster removal?
i searched and didnt come up with anything. i dont want to strip the screws out by using allen wrenches so im wondering what size the torx is for the interior pieces, it looks small like maybe 5/16ths? if someone could confirm this for me so i can go out and buy the right size that would be awesome, thanks

I'm not really familiar with earlier 3rd gens, but Torx bits are actually rated in units of 5. For instance T5, T15, T30, and so on. Id just buy a set of them, they're not expensive at all (a set of T10-T45 can be as cheap as $8).

I've been using allen keys on those interior torx screws for years and never stripped them. If the screws strip, it's not an actual screw, just decorative plastic. Move on to the next screw and your panel will eventually come off.

All those little dash torx are T15's FYI. Every craftsman ratcheting screwdriver I've purchased included one in the assortment...
Otherwise just get a bit...
Yup there are a few fakies in that dash though...

Depending on what you are doing with the cluster you may also want to have a 10mm and 5.5mm sockets handy.

Be careful with the torx screws. Most of them on the trim are fake. In fact I'm pretty sure all of the torx scews you see on the instrument pannel bezel are fake. The bezel is actually held on by screws at the bottom, but they are hidden by the lower dash trim. You'll have to take those off first. Those are held in with screws underneath. I think both are 10mm but could be wrong. I found out the hard way about the fake torx screws by stripping out some on the console. Just don't turn the torx screws hard. If it doesn't come loose easily it is probably fake. They are plastic and should come out pretty easy so don't force it unless you want a crappy looking trim piece. By the way, most of the torx screws are T15
