Car: 1988 Camaro IROC
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3.27 9 bolt posi (non 1le)
firebird=trans am like sc=z28
Just wondering if I can turn a Firebird into a transam (gfx wise)
Like a Sport Coupe can turn into Z28.
What else is difference appearance wise about the trans am verses the firebird. I know that firebird is trans am just a diff model, im not a 100% newb.
Just simply wondering besides front clip, and perhaps rear bumper, any major mods needed to turn the base model firebird into trans am style.
Thanks fellas.
EDIT: I just want a car that gets ok gas mileage, (2.8-3.1) With having the sexy look of the trans am. Not unless of course the 305 gets ok gas mileage, then I'm all about the V8

Car: 1984 Trans Am
Engine: LT1
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 10 bolt w/ 4.10 gears
you're basically looking at changing the front and rear bumpers, along with adding the side ground effects. The Trans Am also had fender vents behind the front wheel (except the GTA), so you'll want to get Trans Am fenders or get the vents and cut holes in your existing fenders. The T/A also had different taillights than the base model birds. It all depends on how authentic you want to be and what year T/A you're trying to create.

Technically, it should be firebird=trans am like camaro=z28... or se=trans am like sc=z28. Or car without GFX=car with GFX.
But semantics aside, don't forget a nice wrap-around wing.

Car: 89 Trans am
Engine: TBI 350 HO Vortec heads
Transmission: 700R4
it would prob be easier and alot cheaper just to go find a trans am and sell your current car.
but since u prob like your car alot. (i know i do.)
http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/fi...ground_effects
theres where u can buy most of the gfx piece (would be pricey thou)
then u need the front and rear bumbers.
and if u want to make it look just like a trans am youll need trans am fenders and a hood with vents and rear lights.
youd be better off just buying a trans am and 305s dont get that bad of gas mileage.
