Vette wipers
#5
They work really good.I have a small video i made with my digital camera. Basically I just moved the center wiper mount to the pass side.I had to use a Dr side wiper arm. Then i lenghtend the wiper linkage that mounted to the center wiper with an identicle rod/linkage.I drilled about four 1/8 holes on one rod & slots on the other rod.So i could make small adjustment on the amout of travel the wiper made. Also i had to change the wiper mounts arm that attaches the wiper rod 180 degress. So the (passenger)wiper would swing outward from the center. This is a very old mod(back in 92)So some of the details are a little foggy. But these are the major mods i made.

is it more functional than stock? Or is it just something cool that no one notices until you point it out? I think it would be something fun to do while I wait for my car to fix itself

Its a little more functional with regards to the pass side wiper as it wipes a different area.Giving a little more visabililty. You could call it cool.Though people mostly notice it when they are working.Ive seen other 3rd gens drivers do a double take on the road during rainy days. But Ive never pointed it out ,till now anyway.

Do they still drop down under the hood line when not in use like stock? I love that disappearing wiper arm thing stock and would hate to lose that just to be alittle different. Looks good.

The motors about in the center of the firewall. From there a linkage goes to the Dr side wiper mount. That wiper mount has 2 swing arms. One for the linkage from the motor & the other goes to the center(pass) wiper.I basically moved my center wiper mount over to the passenger side.Added anonther linkage(like the one from the Dr side mount to center wiper, from another camaro). So it would reach the Dr side wiper mount. Also because of the angle thats built into the center wiper arm.Its not practical to use.So I substituted with a f-body Dr side wiper arm.Theres a few other small details, but that the major part it.

Here is the 2nd linkage going to the passenger side wiper.I believe i had to mod this wiper mount. If i remember the ball socket was hitting the linkage. So i cut about 1/4in ahead( you can barely see the 2 small bolts) of the ball. Then i used another ball with a longer arm section.Bolted them together.Essentially making the arm longer to clear the linkage....Sorry about the pics it was getting dark out.

Were all those linkages from thirdgens?
And do you have pictures of the area were it comes through the cowl and the arm attaches?
