Has anyone ever seen a yellow Formula before?
I am buying a 1991 Formula 350 today. It is yellow in color and the owner swears up and down that its the original color. I am not buying the car because its yellow so it really doesn't make any difference. I have never seen a Firebird with factory yellow before so I guess I am just curious. I have not checked the paint code yet.

Yes, that's what it looks like except it has a different spoiler on it and of course it has the 'formula 350' decals and aluminum WS6 mags.

Here's a pic i got somewhere of a Yellow 91-92 Formula.
If it's got Formula350 decals on the doors it either a 87-90 or had 87-90 decals put on it if its a 91-92

Personally, I haven't seen a 91/92 Formula in that colour, but there is a 91/92 Firebird about 15 minutes away from my house in that same colour.

I know they are out there... I beleive the colour is called Jamaican Yellow or somethin like that.
Never been a fan of yellow cars myself, but the cool thing about them is you don't see many of them...

The stickers look like they are original since they have the 'aged' look and the doors do belong to the car.

#1, the Pic that Dave84 Bird posted is of a 1992 Formula, they only made 26 in 1992. As far as Yellow Firebirds go I am not sure of the years, but I know in 1985 there was a yellow, it was almost the same as the Corvette yellow of that year
In 1986 There was a much more pale colored Yellow on the Trans Am. It was Yellow #51 and in 1987 & 1988, only The Formula could be gotten in Yellow.
then Yellow was droped altogether in 1989, and then re-introduced in 1992. There are NO FACTORY YELLOW 1989, 1990 or 1991 Firebirds, there is no color swatch from Pontiac.
I own 2 1987 Formuas.

Maybe pull the carpet up and check the floor pan. That should be yellow, right?
Also, look behind the a-pillars too.
I don't see too many people stripping a car completely to paint every inch of the interior to match the exterior.

And the other... Believe it or not they are the same color, the lighting and the camera's are different...
Zepher made a good point, chances are the floor pan and the "a" pillars would tell you wether or not the car was an origninal yellow car. As far as yellow in 1991... I guess it could be completely possible to have a 1991 Yellow Formula if by chance the dealer ordered a 1992 car, early, or before the actual production of the 1992 cars and it was produced late in 1991. BUT that is rather uncommon, and I would be sceptical.

At the Trans Am nationals in 2002 & 2003 Pontiac brought the very first 1992 Formula, it's an 1LE here is a pic of that car: The VIN number ends with 200001
As far as Ground effects, Formulas never got the GFX from 1987 - 1992. If it has them then the car is not originally a real formula. Be sceptical tho, even tho the Title may state Firebird - Formula, all base model V8 Firebirds got that on the Title.
Yellow is the best color IMHO

I guess I should have been more detailed. The car has no ground effects.
It is the same color yellow as the formula above except it says 'formula 350' on the doors instead of just formula. Everything else is exactly as the same in the pic above.

Ok, one more point,
from 1987-1990 The Formula 350 would get a "FORMULA 350" Decal on the Doors, and there was NO decal on the hood buldge.
Starting in 1991, ALL Formulas simply got "FORMULA" on the doors, it faded from clear to light or dark gray. AND there was a decal on the hood, that read 5.7 Liter F.I.
It sounds like a Formula, but with the wrong decals.
IF you look at the Vin it may be able to tell you wether or not it is a Formula or not.
Formula and Firebird VINS (does not include T/A or GTA)
1G2FS21
the 8th didget, if its an E there is no way to tell if its a "true" Formula or not.
BUT if the 8th didget is an F or an 8 then indeed it is a Formula
hope that helps.

Did anyone mention to check the RPO paint code? If it has the wrong decals then I would suspect it has been repainted.

I just wanted to thank everyone w/ there input on this. I would the RPO code on the car and it is yellow. I list the RPO code but I don't remember it offhand. It is ashame though because the body is in poor condition. It has no floorpans and the rest of the underside isn't in any better condition. Oh well.
