Can you unhook the wires inside the door and push them through. I think it might be kinda tough cause i was lookin at it last time when i had my door panel off. You might have to take the regulator out first if you havnt yet.

By the way that orange would great on a 3rd gen. I also have a 87 Iroc-Z28 that is completely torn down except for the engine and transmission (new at this and haven't gotten everything loose yet). I was planning on going with something like Hugger Orange but you may have swayed my decision. I have lots of time to think about it though since I am in college and poor.

It is the 2 inch Glasstech. Its a litte different then some of the other hoods. Most of them are 2 1/2 and this one the scope in the back runs further toward the windshield. I think the slightly lower profile and longer rear section in the scope give it a sleeker look then the some of the other cowl hoods out there.

Looks like you have one nice project ahead of you.
As for the POR 15. I did my complete Int. firewall back. Complete engine bay and everything fire wall forward when I had mine tore down like you do now. I did glossy black because thats all they had in stock at the time. I'm planing to paint under the hood so I need to scuff it up. Id assume you could do all the metal but dint think it would be worth it. It would take TONS more prep to make it look good and paint over it.
Id just sand it good. get a good primer sealer or If you take it down to bare metal make sure to use a self etching primer.

Slowly... VERY slowly
Short of putting the '90 Z on the driveway for the winter, I just don't have any room right now.
...That and I'm sort of at a loss of direction right now. The wiring looks absolutely horrifying to me.
I'm thinking of putting one of the cars in the back yard under a car cover for the winter.
As for the progess, I still have to pull the wiring into the car from the engine bay, and the misc items like charcoal box, cruise module, brake booster, relays all have to be stripped. I'll probably get a second wind this weekend and begin some more teardown. I've decided that because the interior of the car is in such great shape (ie no rust or damage), I'll forgo(sp?) painting it and just dynamat it all.

I know how you feel about the wiring i have mine all apart right now. If i was you i wouldnt put a car in the back yard under a cover though that will cause it to rust much faster. I did that to mine for 2 yrs and it started rusting everything. If you have a car port that would be the best place to keep it.

I am 20 going to Community College so I can save money, be around my house still and work. I also have 2 third gens, but they are nothin to look at. The 86 IROC is shot, the only reason I still have it is because if i got rid of it I would get no money for it or it would get totaled. The 89 on the other hand just really needs paint and it will be good as new, to go along with the new engine and trans.

About spraying POR-15, the reason that most don't do it is because it's so expensive, and when you spray you'll always have some overspray. Since that's a waste of paint, it's usually more economical to just brush it on.

Speaking of your wiring nightmare, does anyone know of an aftermarket wiring harness for third gens? Or is there anyone out there talented to fabricate one? My T/A's wiring is getting pretty brittle and it would be nice to have new wire to replace it with....

Well, its been a WHILE since I've posted here...
Back in early January, we sold the 1990 IROC-Z for some cash + a paint job discount on my '87 IROC-Z.
I'm still working on tearing the rest of everything out of my '87 to prep it for paint.
I also sold my '93 Beretta GTZ to help with some bills.
My new daily driver is a 2004 Dodge SRT-4. Nice car with great power, stock.
I will update this page soon.

UPDATE: I finally bought a 2000 Camaro dash this morning.
Hopefully it arrives sometime next week.
Its a 2000 *ebony* Camaro SS dash COMPLETE with gauges, nonblown airbag, dash pad, and HVAC controls... I'm hoping its in as good a shape as it looks in the pics and is described.
I know the gauges won't work (need 97s) but oh well, no biggie.
I'm super psyched to get this project rolling again.
Hopefully it arrives sometime next week.

I just got the dash today and I must say - this thing look AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is virtually BRAND SPANKIN NEW... Not a single flaw anywhere!!!!!
I can't believe it - It was $350 total (inc shipping). What a steal - It has EVERYTHING ----- all HVAC, gauges, vents, panels, even the vent ducting.... I am speechless this thing looks soooo great.
Cant wait to get it installed - I'm probably going to mock it up this weekend.

Everytime I look at this message board I get angery. WHY do you all have such nice cars. Hell I've been working on my camaro for 3 years and its still in peices. I NEVER seem to have enough money for it, and when I'm earning money for it I never have time to work on it. Plus I got a beat up camaro when I was 16 and arggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg I hate you all...........
