I didn't paint it, The paint job was a freebe. The rest of the work I will do because that is what it do for a living. I figure it will take about 2 months to put it back together. I still have to rebuild the motor and have a lot of parts powder coated.

The doors on the third gen camaro open wide enough to paint all the jams. The factory painted the car the same way. Also we didn't have to mess with the realignment of the doors and the jams look perfect you cant tell that the doors were not painted off the car

Realigning the doors isnt too hard i just think it makes it alot easier if you do take them off cleaner job. I didnt take mine off cause i was wanting it done quick but next time i will. Take the windsheild off might as well do the doors.

Well the paint job was free so I really can't complain. And I have never seen a body shop paint the complete inside of a car before.

Was it hard for them to paint it underneath? I mean without the car being on a rotisserie(sp?)?

Even on a lift you still have the rear end and all that in the way cause you have to have the suspension on it. You should get a under side pic . Rotisarys make it nice even if you dont paint the underneath to paint the top you just turn it up on its side. You have one person turn the rotisary while you paint .

Bringing back a pretty old thread here but I am starting to do some reading/research on restoring a thirdgen. I have a 1992 z28 that I want to restore in the next few years and I will definetly have a thread started once I begin..

What I wanted to know is, when you went to get the car painted... how did they do the bottom of the car? Did they remove any suspension parts? I will have to have someone paint my car and im just curious as to wether I can leave the entire suspension in the car and just have the engine and the transmission out along with the wiring...

Thanks

If you wanted the under side painted also its best to take everything off the body and put it on a jig.
