89GTA needs a hood....opinions wanted
Well as it states my 89 GTA needs a hood. I don't really want to go with a RA1 or RA2 type hood. Are there any other hoods out there that look tasteful on my car??? I have searched the net the last couple nights but have not came across anything different. It already has a 4th gen wing and will receive a nice drop and some 18's this winter but I need to get the paint done first. But I can't start the bodywork until I pick out a hood as mine has hail damage. Any opinions, ideas or pictures are welcome.

Same Problem here
I have the exact same situation. I have a black 89 gta and my hood has hail damage and i am saving up right now for a new hood and am in the process of deciding. Much like you i dont really care for the ram air hoods...i am in btw these other two hoods: the twin turbo hood and the super duty hood that can be seen many times on this thread...im leaning toward the twin turbo hood but i want something that can be made functional in some way so its not just money for looks. let me know what you decide on

Here are my $.02:
I like some of the aftermarket hoods for thirdgens. I like smaller cowls and the LT1/LS1 type SS hoods. I do, however, only like the aftermarket hoods on Camaros. I don't really care for any of the ones on Firebirds. The RA1 hood sometimes looks pretty good and can be tasteful but I think that most (or all) of the other hoods take away from the nice lines on the car. That being said, if (or when) I build a bigger mill with a tall single plane intake, I'd use a cowl hood if anything on my car. Good luck!
Trevor
PS - why don't you post pics of some of the hoods you are considering?

Yeah both of those are okay but both are a bit dated. It would be nice to find something that hasn't been seen too much before. I understand there are only so many ways to design a hood but there has to be alternatives. What I would love to have is a damaged 'glass hood to play with.

I'd love to see an Ultra Z style hood made for a thirdgen bird. I think the angular lines on that hood would match well with a thirdgen's lines.
Ofcourse the dip in the middle of the hood would need to be smoothed out I think , but otherwise I like it.
