Fabric Dyeing

I had the carpet dyed on by 1989 GTA. The carpet had faded and there were a couple of bleach white marks. The interior colour is carmel with fabric seats. I asked a local upholstery shop and did some research and nobody was aware of a product to dye the fabric seats and fabric door panels. I was advised the carpet dye would make the fabric hard and would ruin the material. The fabric is still in good shape but is faded and a little discoloured. Is anyone aware of a product to dye the fabric on the interior of GM cars?

Marhyde vinyl and fabric spray dye is what I like. With faded or stained fabric it's hard to get a match without several coats, so expect to buy 6-8 cans minimum.

Thanks for the information. I have searched my city for such a product and can not find it. I did find vinyl spray dye but nothing for fabric. Can you give me some brand names and some distributors or an internet site? Thanks.

ive done the carpet on the back of my trans am seats, kick panels and gta door panels. it does make it a lil stiff, but if you "comb" the carpet while its wet, and do multiple coats.... its not that bad. cheaper than new carpet, IMO.

After rereading the post and doing some research I see it is Mar-Hyde which is a division of Bondo Corporation.

I spoke to a car upholstery shop that has been around for 40 years in my city. They were very impressed with the Mar-Hyde company products; however, they were not aware of the fabric dye. I am sure duplicolour is a good brand as I have used their spray paints over the years. I saw some of their fabric dye in a local auto parts store. The store was aware of Mar-Hyde but would have to order it in from Vancouver. I will continue to research this issue of fabric dying and post any significant information. If anyone has experince with these products and their use, such as any little tricks on application, please let me know. Thanks.
