Do they still make this hood????

And if so then where can I buy it from, if I can't get an extractor hood this will have to do.

I was looking through one of my older pontiac magazines and found this pic so I scanned it on..

I dunno but I sure like it.

After reading about the cooling problems of the 3rd gen, it seems like that might be a good one to help with the engine bay temp as well as maybe providing a decent cold air supply from the windshield.

I still see that hood advertised quite often in the back of many car mags. I think its called the daytona turbo hood or something. I wanted one for a while, then I came to my senses.

This hood came on my 87 IROC when I bought it from some guy. Don't know what they may have possibly done to it but when I got it it was falling apart, broken and bending. Also those may look like air ducts but on mine the were just for visual appeal, no actual holes to vent air in.

you can get it from Motion Glass you'll have to call them and wait for them to make it. They make their products as they go-took me around 3months to get my hood, notchback, and wide body. That's to make it and ship it.

Motion Glass - No website but builders of the famous Balwin Motion Camaros, Chevelles and Vette's of the 60' and 70's. Great catalog, including wide-body kit, notchback, zr1 taillight, etc.

if you order through motion how much was it for the hood and was it functional??

I don't like hw u.s.body states that thier hood are oversized and require trimming , means they do sloppy jobs.

I don't know how that hood fits or how much it is. But my Daytona hood was $399 and it fits good. I mounted it with 4 hood pins the hinge mounts look like they could use some more strength if you want to use them. I think the total for everything I got I had $3300 into it and that includes shipping.

Actually looking at your picture again that firebird has pretty much the same setup as my car except with the Turbo hood. It might even be one of the original Motion Performance cars looking at the window sticker.

If you end up ordering from him just keep in mind he's kind of a mean sounding guy but the product is really good quality the front fenders fit perfect and didn't even need to be shimmed and I have seen a few aftermarket notchbacks and this one fits great compared to the others i've seen. I only had to build up the rear quarters alittle to come even with the hatch.

I for one like the hood, although have a few issues with it. For one it looks dated and 2 I think the vents are a bit much on the cowl part. I think the hood would look very cool with just a slightly raised section with the turbo vents on either side.

Like its a big deal or something... I am buying a plain flat fiberglass hood from Harwood then making cutouts for 2 80-81 Z28 fender vents towards the rear of the hood, then mounting the 91-92 hood blisters back on it so it still looks close to stock... doesnt sound like a big deal to me...

I thought you meant the heat extractor hood.

There is a little trick I am doing with the hood blisters. The fender vents and the blisters both will extract heat, alot of it!

I went strictly junkyard for my hood and rear hatch. Got the cowl induction hood for $45 and the notchback for $39.

Jim.

Lowtech.

I called motion (about the widebody kit) and they said, "they are no longer in the buisness" so I offered to buy the mold for the widebody kit and/or any hood molds. They said "give me your number and I will give you a call back" this was yesterday so we will see. If not, just search 82-92 turbo hood on google and theres a site that has it, is just under 500 bucks i think.

They said they were no longer in business or no longer making the kits for our cars? I live about 4 minutes from them and it looks like they are open for business, I never went in there but I would highly doubt they went out of business they have been there for EVER.
