Front and rear Fascia ("bumpers"): A few questions.

1. What material is the front and rear fascia made of? I have heard on some years (my car an '82 Z28) they were fiberglass and others were a plastic or urethane.

2. Is there a good paint stripper i can use on the afformentioned areas? I have noticed the local autostores carry a stripper made for flexible surfaces, is this a good choice? Any suggestions on a brand and exact product name?

3. Can somebody provide me with exact bolt locations or exploded diagrams outlining the bolts which retain both the front and rear fascia?

Any further information on stripping, priming/painting or removing these pieces would be greatly appreciated.

1. I am pretty sure they are all made of polyurethan. Some 82-83 hoods were made of fiberglass but I dont think the gfx were because my 83 gfx were urethan.

2. What condition is the paint in? Are there a lot of layers? I bought some paint stripper to prep my rear bumper cover off but it didn't really work that well. I will get you the brand and stuff later tonight.

i just used aircraft paint stripper to strip my facias, the rear is simple to take on and off the front is a bitch(if its a 91-92) because all of those little fasteners that hold the chin spiler on, but other than that there are 2 bolts on the inside of the fender (fender well) that hold the headlight bar on, the supports under the hood, the supports that go to the bottom of the fender and thats just about it, the headlight bar and front bumper cover come off together, i hope this helps

Just thought I'd chime in and mention that it's also a bitch to pull the front if you have one as old as an '89. mike83z-28 and I both will attest to the 500,000 bolts that hold the lower front valance
