Simple question about doors

Maybe this has been addressed before, I did a search didnt come up with much...

My passenger door has a huge dent in it from someone backing into it so I'm gonna go junkyarding around for a decent door. I have one question. Are all the internal structures and what-not the same regardless of year and weither or not if has power windows? I've never taken a door apart to look at the inner-workings of it so I just wanna make sure there isnt different bracketry?

For instance lets say I find a door off a 1990 camaro that has manual windows. Would I be able to bolt-up my power window stuff off my 88 to it?

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula

Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The 'guts' of the 82 models are different from the 83-92; otherwise, they should be swappable.
There should be an article in the tech section about converting to power windows, so that is covered.
You can also use a door from a Firebird; only difference may be the location of any FX mounting holes.

Actually the same guts in an '82 door are in an '84 door. I'm not sure about 1985... but 1986 is different than the '84 internals.

I put 1984 doors on my '86... the '84 doors were manual, so I swapped over my power stuff into them. Here's the deal. The door FRAMES are the same- all of the holes are there from 82-92, but like Pete said, it's just the insides are different. If that happens to ya, it's no big deal, but everything in the junkyard door must come out, and all of your stuff has to go in.

The biggest way to tell is to look at the fill panel- the black triangle on the door between the window and the windshield. If those look the same on both doors, you're probably okay. (82-84's panel was actually a window track. 86-up is just a piece of plastic attached to a bracket. Again, I'm not sure about '85.)

Make sure you check for rust along where the outer door skin is crimped to the bottom of the door. If your door is rust free, you might want to try knocking the dent out yourself first; or maybe even crimping on a new door skin.
