? about Door Panels

I have a fairly simple question

My door panels on my 89 GTA are needing to go eventually and im searching ebay where i have found numerous door panels from 82-92 firebirds/camaros but they dont look like mine!!!

If i buy a pair of door panels that are not the same as mine will everything line up right and work out ok or do i have to find someone selling my exact kind?????

They should all fit, but watch for the cutouts for the window switches and inside door handle release - those could be different (camaro is diff from firebird)

If you have the cool molded door panels (all GTAs should have them ,as will any other Firebird (87 only I believe) or TA (87-90), the standard ones can be made to work but aren't a direct bolt on.The metal armrest support is different between the two styles of panel; you'll have to drill out or grind the rivets, and either rivet or bolt on the standard style armrest support.
BTW whats wrong with your door panels that you are replacing them? Most people are doing this swap in the other direction.

yea... I wouldn't go through the trouble of putting "normal" panels in a GTA. GTA panels look so much better.

There is a 90* bracket where the armrest is. That's what makes them different. If you were to swap to normal panels, you'd have to cut that metal off.

These are what you're looking for, correct?

New ones, no...but tan should be one of the easier colors to find used, I would think. I have run across them before a few times. Gray is a little less common, and black is nearly impossible to find a decent set. You might check with some of the used parts vendors like Hawks, since they occasionally have them and might could put you on a list in case they get some in. I got lucky, my TA had the black ones stock. Redraif has the only base model bird I have ever seen that came with them (gray, without the map pockets since it was a manual window car...she replaced them with black).

that is my roc in the pic with the GTA Panels. not much fabrication is required...... you just gotta cut the brackets off and get a set for standard panels and armrests. the holes when drill the rivots out almost line up. i think i had to drill one new hole to make it good to my standards. i highly recommend keeping the GTA panels in your car, unless they are totally trashed.

i have a fairly decent set of glack GTA panels for sale, with armrests. they are an 8 on a 1-10 scale. i wouldnt take any less than 300 shipped. this is a SUPER rare set to find. i almost dont wanna sell them, but if you are really interested, ive got them.

i also have a tan set. they are only a 6 on a 1-10 scale. the fronts look real good, but there is some water damage to the back of the panels. the door panel rail (holds the clips on the GTA panels) would have to be epoxied back on in some spots.

good luck with it, let me know if i can help if you decide to swap to the normal panels.
