Patching Rust
What is the guage thickness of the original sheet metal on the bodies of Third Gen Camaros.
And should I use thicker steel for patching?
Thanks

I used 20 Ga(.035") for most of my floorboard/interior/underhood
and 22GA(.029) for everything else(anything that needed to be formed)
Keep in mind that any gage of sheetmetal can vary in thickness by up to .003 IIRC
Hope that helps

Car: 1992 Camaro RS - not real slow anymore...
Engine: SPDC 360 MAF EFI /w a Holley Stealth Ram
Transmission: T5 untill it blows up from to much torque
Axle/Gears: Ford 9" /w auburn pro & 3.89's
I used 18 guage for the wheel wells(measured with a micrometer) and 20 for the floorboards. If your talking about exterior panels. There is a noticable difference in the metal thickness of your doors compared to your 1/4 panels.
