Firebird Interior Swap?
Just a question, I love Firebirds but I hate their interior. Is it possible to swap Camaro interior into the Firebird? Thanks!

as far as body main tub goes maybe but not as far as minor things like dash pads and such,
they changed them 82-84 then 85-up for both models, and also fenders and so forth all different
etc.

interesting... i thought most people (myself included) preferred the Firebird interior to the Camaro. I find the Camaro to be very plain and empty compared to the Firebird. In fact, that was a big reason for me choosing to get a Firebird rather than a Camaro. the dash assembly should bolt up without any issues, you'll just have to deal with wiring. As far as guages, it will be easiest if you get a dash with the same tach setup (ie- stay with what the firebird originally had- be it cable driven or electrically controlled). I'm not 100% sure of the year they switched, but the firebird switched to electonic control several years before the camaro did. Get a camaro dash pad to go with the plastic section and it'll all bolt up. In any case, good luck if you decide to take it on and welcome to the f-body family

So anyway, the Camaro went electronic in 1990, the Firebird went electronic in 1986.

I am doing the camaro interior swap and tonight I am doing the dash. I was thinking the same thing that the dashes would bolt right in but I was wrong. When you take the dash out of the firebird there are only 2 10mm bolts on the bottom corners that hold it to the dash, on the camaro there is a bracket that is spot welded on for the dash, so in order to put the dash in the firebird I had to drill out the welds and spot weld the camaro brackets to the firebird body. Any questions just ask satterlw@bellsouth.net :-D
