fixing my pwr. antena

The antena stoped working, so I took it apart and the plastic thing that pulls it down was broken.
Do you guys think that a GM kit to fix it is worth the money & time or should I just buy a new antena. t
The motor works because I can hear it every time I turn the car on or off. But Im woried that it might die as soon as I fix the other portion of the sistem.
& how do I know if the antena is an original, I dont want to buy a kit from GM and then find out that it dosnt fit the antena that I have.

I this post in the right place or should it be moved?

I tryed to buy a complete power antanna from the dealer and thay told me it is no longer avalable. You can still buy the mast assembly i think that includes what you need.

Get a P/N 22038195 from the dealer and rebuild it. It's not hard to do.

What worries me is that I went throug the search and the only thing I found related to fixing the antena, was a guy that did this and right after the motor went down. So I dont want to spend the $45 and then have to buy a new antena.

His motor dying was probably an unrelated issue.
