Steering wheel removal-air bag
Never attempted to remove an air bag steering wheel before, any tips to avoid damaging? Where/how would I get at it. This is on a '91 Camaro.

first thing undo the battery ...lol...but there are 4 screws on the back side of the wheel that you can take out and the front cover comes off and then you can remove the airbag and then unbolt the steering wheel and so on

I have done it and it is not that hard. There are a couple of things you should probably do so you don't accidentally deploy the air bag.
First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the SIR fuse from the fusebox. Take the knee bolster off (the two plastic pieces under the steering column). They are held in by 5 torx screws. Then, look near the bottom of the steering column and find a large yellow wire. There are two yellow connectors that hold it together, disconnect them by removing the small green piece that holds them together and prying. Now your airbag is disabled. Now you can remove the airbag by unbolt the 4 torx bolts behind the steering wheel (the top left hand bolt is going to be tricky, FYI). Slowly take the airbag out to where you can see behind it and remove the yellow connector from the airbag and the horn button. Make sure to lay the airbag up while it's out of the car just in case it deploys. Then remove the nut that holds the steering wheel on and use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. That's it.
To put it all back together just do the opposite. One note though, make sure you put the steering wheel back on the same way it came off or it's going to be crooked. I know all of this looks like a lot, but I promise that it's only half as hard as it seems. Good luck!

Thanks for the details guys! I'm parting it out, so it won't be going back together. My main concern was working with the air bag part, didn't want any "surprises"...BOOM!!! Thanks!!

You might want to leave the battery undone and the fuse out over night then the next day come back and disconnect the airbag. From what I read, there's a capacitor that'll hold a charge to deploy the bag even if there's no battery power. Probably be safe after an hour though.

You will need a torx t-27 or t-30 socket or driver to remove the four bolts. I used a t-27 but I think a 30 would have fit better.
