Cruise Turn Signal Lever for Third Gen?

I was looking on ebay for a Firebird Cruise Turn Signal Lever w/ delay for my 82 Firebird. The auctions specify for years 84 to 89 or for 90 to 92 but don't say anything about 82 to 84. The lever looks to be the same so I guess that it's the wiring harness or connector that's different. Does anyone know if the later model levers will fit the 82-84 cars and is there different wiring or connectors used.

Thanks.

The later years (90 - 92) will not work in the 82 - 89 models because the wire harness is shorter and connects inside the steering column. The 82 - 89 haness's connect at the base of the steering column.

Thanks Trickster, What about the connector at the end of the cable, is that the same on the 82-84 cars.

Thanks.

The wiring for the windshield wipers is different in the 82 and 83 vs. the 84-92 which most likely accounts for the discrepancy. The actual connector is the same, just the wiring differs.

Agreed. I did a switch for a non-delay wipers myself on my 82. The connector was the same, I just had to flip two wires around on one side of the connector so that it was wired properly.

Just need a good wiring diagram and a multimeter.
